Chico's was the site of one of the very first gay gathering places in the 60s and 70s. Actually, the basement was where the drag queens and gay boys and even a few out lesbians would hang out on the weekends. Not sure when it fell out of favor for other more "glamorous" and open watering holes and dance clubs ...
